My client are a market leading global retail bank who have a strong emphasis upon breaking into the emerging markets with aspirations of becoming the largest by 2010.

Due to internal promotion, we are currently seeking a Head of Audit with particular emphasis upon the retail UK customer.

Your overall remit will include:
Provide assurance over current and evolving risks to the Board, CEO and Audit Committee
Manage the delivery of the audit plan for the retail business and be responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness for the audit team
Enhance the culture of the audit function
Manage the day-to-day relationship between the audit function and the internal business units
Be a valued member of the senior audit team and be keen to show your commercial acumen across the audit function
You will be a natural leader and be keen to motivate your team of managers and auditors in order for them to deliver quality audits across the business
You will improve the technical knowledge of your team and will facilitate their means to do so
You will provide direction for your team and will understand the strategic direction of aligned business areas
You will have a deep understanding of the control, regulatory and risk issues facing the international banking and financial services community
You will have excellent communication skills and be at ease with both your own team and also with the business
You will be able to listen and also probe others for information. Communication and relationship building between the audit function the business unit is key for the success of the audit function
You will instil within your team a strong drive for results and will ensure that this is delivered to the business, effectively, accurately, and timely
You will have a thorough understanding of the relevant regulatory environment and issues covering the UK

You will have either a CCAB or audit qualification and be able to demonstrate a strong career path to date. You will be ambitious and capable. You will be keen to flex your commercial acumen and understanding within a team of equally capable peers. You must have previous financial services experience which although not necessarily will have been in a retail bank, you must have had previous experience of working with the retail customer e.g. credit cards, insurance products.
